Mr Spillane also concluded that Mrs O'Sullivan had a malignant cancerous tumour of the head of the pancreas which had invaded her common bile duct, causing the jaundice, loss of weight and loss of appetite. He decided to inform Mrs O'Sullivan in early April of 1997 that she had pancreatic cancer and discharged her home. At home her symptoms got worse with severe vomiting further loss of weight, abdominal pain and she had to be re-admitted to
hospital in early May 1997. She was now transferred to Cork Mercy Hospital under Prof. Gerry O'Sullivan FRCS (Professor of Surgery in UCC) as her condition was deteriorating rapidly and her husband was desperately
looking to see if anything more could be done for her. She spent five- six weeks in Cork unable to keep down solids or fluids and had to be fed intravenously. |
To Whom it May Concern On the 16th July 1999 in the House of Prayer on Achill Island, Co Mayo, I listened with interest to Fr McGinnity speak of various healings which had taken place there over the years. One in particular stood out for me, which was that of cancer of the pancreas. As the lady herself was present on the day, I requested to meet her and to discuss her medical history. She agreed to do so and her story is as follows: Clinical History of Kathleen O'Sullivan She first became ill on March 17th 1997 with severe central abdominal pain accompanied rapidly with the onset of jaundice. She was admitted to Tralee General Hospital under the care of Mr D F Spillane FRCS Chief Surgeon of Tralee Hospital for further investigation. Scans of her bilary tree showed an obstruction of her common bile duct. She was then referred to Tullamore General Hospital under the care of Consultant Gastroenterologist Dr Humphrey O'Connor MD FRCSI, for a highly specialised procedure in order to discover the cause of the obstruction. He concluded that she had a malignant bilary obstruction and informed her husband before referring her back to Mr Spillane in Tralee. At home her symptoms got worse with severe vomiting further loss of weight, abdominal pain and she had to be re-admitted to hospital in early May 1997. She was now transferred to Cork Mercy Hospital under Prof. Gerry O'Sullivan FRCS (Professor of Surgery in UCC) as her condition was deteriorating rapidly and her husband was desperately looking to see if anything more could be done for her. She spent five- six weeks in Cork unable to keep down solids or fluids and had to be fed intravenously. As Mrs O'Sullivan forwarded her records to me for examination, I confirm that everything here is as stated. On June 17th 1997 in a letter to her GP, Prof. O'Sullivan stated and I quote, "This lady's repeat cat scan of the abdomen on 4 June 1997 is confirmatory of pancreatic head cancer. This tumour is non respectable (inoperable) and I am discharging her home for continued pallative (hospice) care". Mrs O'Sullivan was five stone weight on her discharge from Cork having been a previous eight stone, seven pounds in March 1997. Her condition became much worse at home and her jaundice deepened so her GP decided to refer her once again to Dr Humphrey O'Connor to perform a small procedure to alleviate the jaundice temporarily and give her some relief. She was discharged from Tullamore on the 27th of June 1997 extremely illl at this stage with her prognosis a matter of weeks to live. Her husband had heard only a few days before about the House of Prayer in Achill and decided in desperation to drive directly from Tullamore to Achill as he felt he had nothing to lose in view of his wife's terminal situation. He described to me how on arrival at the House of Prayer he had to carry his wife in his arms wrapped in a blanket. He described how both Fr McGinnity and Mrs Gallagher prayed with his wife and how he carried her to the chapel to attend mass. He described how on the way home his wife who hadn't eaten for two months suddenly said she felt hungry. He stopped at a hotel in Galway and for the first time in months she ate a full meal. Her jaundice disappeared over the next few days, appetite returned fully and she had a complete recovery within a short time As I listened to this astonishing story, my natural clinical instincts demanded proof as witness to my vocation and training as a medical doctor, to seek her permission and access to her medical records and files. She willingly acceded and all that is stated here is on record according to my study of her care. When I asked of her regarding the reaction of her doctors to her amazing recovery she responded "But sure I had no need to go back to any doctor. I felt on top of the world and full of energy I hadn't ever had before." As I could see this lady was in excellent health on the 16th July 1999 but as a clinican I needed scientific verification regarding her amazing recovery. She gave me permission to organise a private cat scan of her pancreas. This was carried out on 27th July 1999 by a leading radiologist in Limerick. He states: 1. No trace of pancreatic cancer and 2. No evidence of secondary cancer invading the bilary ducts. I found this radioligist assessment to be proof that this was beyond medical or scientific explanation ie. complete disappearance of a highly malignant tumour and an amazing physical recovery by Mrs O'Sullivan." Michael Anketell Since the time of this testimony, the full assessment has been given by the three leading members of the medical profession, showing the final proof that there is no cancer in the pancreas or anywhere else. This can only prove the power of God at work in His miraculous healing, as the doctors themselves have witnessed. Submitted to the Church In 2000, the case of Kathleen O'Sullivan, along with three other outstanding healings having received further independant medical examination and doctors concluded that they merited to be submitted to Church Authorities. Since then, no investigation has been made into them. |
