I am 27 years old and I first visited the House of Prayer in 2003.
At the time I had just started to practice my faith again. I was
also recovering from anorexia and bulimia. I will never forget
the first weekend spent at Our Lady's House. I knew from the
beginning that there was something special about the place.
During the mini vigil which takes place every Saturday night, a
very special experience occurred. I was praying the second
Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary when I felt a deep peace flow
through me. It contained a noticeable presence of Our Blessed
Lady and in it held a healing, security and fulfilment that my
heart had so desperately yearned for after so many years
of hurt. When I returned home I still had to struggle in my recovery but the peace that I had received at Our Lady's House stayed with me. No matter how many times I failed, this Motherly peace gave me the assurance to strive on. Not only in this aspect but throughout my years at college Our Lady's presence has remained. It has given me the courage to be able to bear witness to Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother among peers who often do not believe. I received the grace to be happy without having to get drunk, take drugs or lead a promiscuous lifestyle. I believe that if I had not gone to the House of Prayer I may not possibly have had the strength to continue in my faith journey with Jesus. Since my first visit I have been a regular pilgrim. I find that every time I visit I find myself being filled a new with the love of Jesus and Mary. They give me the strength to remain loyal to them. I have also met Christina Gallagher on a number of occasions. Each time I have met her I find my heart deeply touched by what I believe is Jesus and His Blessed Mother working through her. In this testimony I want to thank Jesus and Our Blessed Mother for the gift of the House of Prayer and for the work which God does through Christina.
